The ULTIMATE Adoption

As I was sitting in church last Sunday listening to the sermon I started thinking –Man, this is so good! I know exactly what my next blog post is going to be!  Then, today as I started trying to figure out how to start the post phrases like: “This isn’t technically related to our adoption journey…” or “This is a little off topic…” came to mind.  But you know what? It is TOTALLY related to our adoption journey and 100% on topic because it tells of the ultimate adoption…the one that makes ALL things possible (for example: our personal adoption journey) and it gives us the hope of eternal salvation!  The sermon was on Ephesians 1:3-6 which states that “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ”.  Wow, let that sink in, we have been adopted into the greatest family!  However, we must realize that we did absolutely nothing to deserve the rights and privileges that come along with being welcomed into this family…one of my favorite parts of the sermon was a quote by Jonathan Edwards that says:

“You contribute nothing to your salvation except the sin that made it necessary.”

If that isn’t a wake up call I don’t know what is!  On our own we will never be good enough to be a part of his family.  It is only by his electing love, grace and mercy that we rejoice in the benefits of being his legitimate heirs (Thanks, Dad for the all terminology!).

I needed to hear what this message had to say and it encouraged me in so many ways!  It also helped me see our personal adoption process in a whole new light!

If you have some time, I encourage you to check out the sermon by clicking on the link below!  It will be well worth your time 🙂
